Abstract
524,905. Press-button retractive switches. EVER READY CO. (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., (National Carbon Co., Inc.). Feb. 10, 1939, No. 4427. [Class 38 (v)] A switch incorporated in the battery case 1 of a torch or fan, has extreme positions in which the switch is locked " off " and held continuously " on," respectively, and an intermediate position in which the button 16 can be moved axially for " flashing." The button 16 is mounted in a slide 15 guided in an opening in an escutcheon 12 on the case 1 and carries a plate 23 on which the contact-blade 26 is mounted. The bar, button, and slide move as a unit and the bar is normally urged by the spring 22 against the inner face of the escutcheon 12. The latter has two pairs of recesses 13, 14 with which co-operate upturned ends 24, 25 of the bar 23, The arrangement being that when the ends 24, 25 engage recesses 14 the switch is locked " off," whereas when the button is pressed and slid so that the recesses 13 are engaged, the button can be held depressed for flashing. In the upper extreme position, the ends 24, 25 rest on the face of the escutcheon and the blade 26 continuously engages the fixed contact 6. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the positions of the recesses and their co-operating projections are interchanged.
