Abstract

926,266. Toothed gearing; variable-speed gearing. FICHTEL & SACHS A.G. Jan. 17, 1961 [Feb. 23, 1960], No. 1941/61. Classes 80 (1) and 80 (2). In epicyclic gearing comprising an externally toothed gear 6 rotatably mounted on an eccentric 2 secured to an input shaft 1 and meshing an internally toothed gear 13 integral with an output shaft 17, the gear 6 is prevented from rotating with respect to the gear housing 9 by rollers 8, rotatably mounted on pins 18 carried by the housing 9 and projecting into bores 7 formed in the gear 6. The rollers 8 are made of resilient material and a balance weight 16 is provided. In a modification, an eccentric roller 23 is rotatably mounted on a pin 18 and within a bore 7 in the gear 6 by needle bearings 19 and 22. Three such rollers 23 are employed. A two-speed gear, shown in Fig. 5, comprises a stepped gear 106 rotatably mounted on an adjustable double eccentric 102, 125 and carrying pins 118 on which rollers 108 are rotatably mounted. The rollers have stepped surfaces which engage stepped bores 107 in the housing 109. A hollow driving-shaft 101 and adjustment shaft 126 are locked together in relatively adjustable angular positions by means of a stop pin 131 in discs 130, 132. Fig. 6 shows an infinitely variable friction gear comprising a disc 206 rotatably mounted on an adjustable double eccentric 202, 225 and being prevented from rotating by conical rollers 208 which are mounted on shafts 218 supported in the housing 209 and engaging conical bores 207 in the disc 206. The periphery of the disc 206 is spring- pressed between members 213, 214 attached to the output shaft 217. Change of gear ratio is effected by movement of a lever 252 which not only effects axial movement of the shafts 218 carrying the rollers 208, but also varies the eccentricity of the eccentric 202 through mechanism comprising a forked member 229 which moves a control sleeve 235 axially, and thereby, through a screw-threaded connection, causes rotation of an adjustment shaft 226 secured to the eccentric 202. Fig. 7 shows another modification in which the rotation of an eccentrically mounted internally toothed gear member 306 is prevented by cranks 350 rotatably supported in the housing on needle bearings 351.
