Abstract

925,922. Bending cardboard and like blanks. K. KÍRBER. Jan. 13, 1960 [March 31, 1959], No. 1248/60. Class 100 (2). [Also in Groups XVII and XXII] A machine for folding up a paper or metal tray of the kind shown in Fig. 5, has means for clamping the blank inpositionbefore commencing the folding and releasing the blank after the folding is completed. The blank is clamped between plates 32, 21, the plates being moved vertically and in the direction of travel of the blank by eccentric shafts 1, 3 and 15, 16 and coupling members 4, 4a and 41. During the vertical movement, the plates and the blank are lowered compressing springs 25, 25a and blades 28, 28a turn up the sides S, S1 of the tray. On the upward movement the lower plate engages stops 26, 26a, and the plate 32 rises further to release the blank. The eccentric shaft 1 is driven by a chain K and a sprocket 2 and tooth gearing drives the other eccentric shafts. The chain also drives a blank withdrawal device BA, a blank feeding device ZF and a feeder WF of a packing machine. The machine can be adjusted to accommodate blanks of various widths.
