Abstract
925,884. Impact crushers. BARBERGREENE CO. Aug. 30, 1961, No. 31152/61. Class 59. An impact crusher comprises a pair of hammer rotors 14, 15 disposed in a housing 17 having an inlet 18, an outlet 19, breaker plates 21, 22, rotatable breaker bars 23 and a pivotallymounted discharge grid 24 provided with a breaker bar 26. The grid is adjustable about its pivot 58 by means of a rod 59 and has a safety release device in the form of a shear pin 65 which is broken in the case of abnormal load. Modified safety means are described. The housing is divided into upper and lower sections, the upper section being removable and the lower section being supported on resilient shock absorbers 33. Material under treatment is prevented from flying out of the inlet 18 by means of a curtain comprising two staggered series of chains 52. Each rotor has a series of hammers 16, the inner ends of which are confined within recesses 37 formed in the rotor body and the trailing side of each hammer has a V-shaped groove adapted to coact with a corresponding projection on its rotor, each hammer being normally held in position by means of bolts 40. To prevent the hammers from flying off the rotors when the bolts become excessively worn, a pair of end bushings and intermediate collars carried by a rod 44 are interposed between the inner end of each hammer and the bottom of its adjacent recess 37.
