925,683. Gates. N. P. BRAY. Nov, 7, 1959, No. 37827/59. Class 45. A gate is characterised in that it is adapted to be charged with electricity and is biassed to the closed position. The gate comprises a bracket d of tubular material, mounted on a sloping pivot pin d<SP>6</SP> and adjusted for height by the nuts d<SP>7</SP>. The pin d<SP>6</SP> is held in a bracket d<SP>3</SP> which is secured to a post c by clamps e<SP>1</SP>. A sheet of insulating material is interposed between each clamp and the post, and there is a terminal c<SP>6</SP> on the bracket for the electricity supply wire. Sliding in the bracket d is a bar a the end of which is covered by an insulating sleeve a<SP>1</SP> and which is held in the closed position by spring clips f attached to a second post c. In a modification the horizontal rail is a flat spring steel strip which bows as it is pushed in the centre and shortens sufficiently to release itself from the retaining clip. A modified clip, Fig. 11, comprises pivoted catches b which swing inwards to allow the rail a<SP>1</SP> to pass to the space between them, but which must be opened manually by pressure on the upper parts of the catches. In a further modification the gate is not pivoted but has a flexible section near the post. The self-closing action may also be obtained by a spring, Fig. 17 (not shown), or a weight, Fig. 18 (not shown). Specification 925,684 is referred to.
