Abstract
923,900. Telecommunication cables. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Sept. 4, 1959 [Sept. 5, 1958], No. 30277/59. Class 36. A telecommunications cable is made by combining several pairs or quads to form a unitgroup 3, stranding a plurality of such unit groups to form a super-group 1 and laying up a plurality of such super-groups around a central super-group 2 to form a cable. This enables standard unit-groups to be built up into cables over a wide range of total numbers of pairs or quads. The individual conductors may be randomly crossed within a unit-group and both unit-groups and super-groups may be provided with coloured paper identification strips 4, or the unit groups may be identified by spraying with coloured paints. Both unit-groups and super-groups may be of sectorial cross-section. If the conductors are plastic-insulated the bare conductors may be sprayed-coated whilst being twisted into pairs or quads and immediately laid up into groups.
