Abstract

923,788. Ladders. C. F. TAYLOR (PLASTICS) Ltd. June 27, 1961 [Oct. 18, 1960], No. 35658/60. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] Tubes, more particularly the rungs and sides of a ladder are joined by inserting the rungs 2 in holes in the sides 1 and filling the tubes with a fluid that expands on setting so that pressure is produced in the tubes when the fluid sets. The fluid may be polyurethane or phenolic foam. The sides and rungs may be of glass fibre with a thermosetting synthetic resin, e.g. epoxy or polyester. A ladder is shown formed with an upper platform of chip-board covered with glass fibre and synthetic fibre laminates and shaped to fit against posts. Each side member of the ladder is fitted with a foot pivoted to an arm telescopically adjustable in the lower end of the side member.
