Abstract
923,215. Valves. COMPRESSOR ACCESSORIES Ltd. May 25, 1961 [Feb. 27, 1960], No. 6940/60. Class 135. A delivery or suction valve for a compressor comprises a seat 1, a reciprocable valve plate 11, and a guard 2 which are assembled in superimposed relationship by a central bolt 4 and nut 5, a port system 20 in the plate offset radially in relation to a port system 6, 7 in the seat 1 so that flow of fluid is prevented when the plate is in contact with the seat, and a guide washer 14 which encircles the shank of the bolt and has an external radius greater than the radial distance between the centre of the valve seat and the axis of a locating pin 12 or each of a number of locating pins secured to the seat and projecting through the washer into engagement with the guard 2. The plate is urged towards its seat by resilient fingers 24 on a number of superimposed plates 3 and is thinner than the guide washer by an amount equal to its lift. In operation, the fingers 24 cause the plate 11 to rotate. A cushion plate may be sandwiched between the plates 3 and the plate 11. A suction valve in which the assembly is inverted on the bolt 4 is illustrated.
