Abstract

923,113. Cathode materials. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 3, 1960 [Aug. 6, 1959], No. 26904/60. Class 39 (1). In manufacture of an oxide cathode, a layer of alkaline-earth carbonate including 0.5 to 3% by weight of silver carbonate is provided on a carrier consisting substantially of nickel. For example, a layer of barium-strontium carbonate (55% Ba-45% Sr) with which 1% of silver carbonate has been co-precipitated may be sprayed on to a nickel base to produce a cathode for use in a television display tube, and providing continuous current densities of 1 amp./cm.<SP>2</SP> for more than 1000 hours.
