Abstract

Dehydrohalogenation of fluorohydrocarbons and chlorofluorohydrocarbons is carried out by reacting the given compound with an anion-exchange resin at a temperature of less than 150 DEG C. In Example 1, a sealed tube containing 8 parts of 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane and 63 parts of "Amberlite" (Registered Trade Mark) is shaken for 15 hours at 25 DEG C. A 35% conversion to vinylidene fluoride is obtained. Example 3 describes the preparation of vinyl fluoride from 1,1-difluoroethane. Examples 4 to 15 relate to the preparation of decafluorocyclohexene C6F10 from undecafluorocyclohexane by means of "Amberlite", except in Example 12 wherein "De-Acidite" (Registered Trade Mark) is used. Examples 16 and 17 relate to the dehydrofluorination of decafluorocyclohexane 1H,3H-C6F10H2 to give nonafluorocyclohexene C6F9H and octafluorocyclohexadiene. Example 20 relates to the dehydrofluorination of 1H,2H,4H-nonafluorocyclohexane to give a mixture of isomeric monoenes (C6F8H2). isomeric dienes (C6F7H) and perfluorobenzene C6F6.
