Abstract
922,090. Turbine blades. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 24, 1960 [March 24, 1959], No. 10490/60. Class 110(3). Blades for a steam turbine or other fluid flow machine have sharp inlet edges and are designed for flow of working medium therethrough at supersonic speed, the angle # of the blade inlet edges being smaller than a critical angle obtained from a shock polar diagram for the existence of a detached compression shock, whereby to prevent such a detachment. The apex of the inlet edge angle of each blade is adjoined, on the convex blade surface, by a curved surface section 1a which permits the production of a fan of expansion waves which overtake and break down the compression shock. The contour at the concave blade surface 1d which adjoins the blade edge is inclined relative to the front edge 2 of the blading by an angle #<SP>1</SP> 1 (construction) which differs from the relative approach flow angle # 1 by such a value as to ensure the continuity of flow at the same velocity upstream and downstream of the blades.
