An hydraulic accumulator comprises a rigid container 11, Fig. 1, having an opening at one end, a bladder 14 of resilient deformable material having a mouth at one end, a resilient disc 18 positioned in the mouth so as to hold the rim 17 thereof against the wall of the container, and a hollow connection 19 extending through the opening and providing communication between the interior of the bladder and the exterior of the container, the rim of the bladder, during assembly, being pressed into contact with the wall before any part of the disc makes contact with the container so the connection is moved outwardly of the opening, further outward movement of the connection causing distortion of the disc. The disc may be flat or have a curvature of greater radius than that of the end of the container and is shaped at its periphery so that a portion 73b thereof abuts against the container when a nut 21 on the connector 19, which has a flange 71 at one end, is tightened to clamp the rim of the bladder to the container, the portion 73b preventing the portion 73a, on which the rim of the bladder engages, compressing the rim beyond a limited amount. The connector 19 may be formed integral with the disc which may be shaped with an upstanding rim 73b, Fig. 4, to engage the container. To prevent overtightening of the nut, a collar may be interposed between the container and disc, the collar being formed on the disc, on the connection, or as a separate component.
