Abstract

946,668. Hydraulic accumulators. J. MERCIER. June 2, 1960, No. 25673/60. Divided out of 946,667. Heading F1P. An hydraulic accumulator comprises a deformable partition 62 having its outer periphery 71 fixable to a container consisting of a plurality of members 66, 67, a rod 73 extending through a central opening 72 in the partition and aligned with openings 74, 75 in the members, means 84 retaining the periphery of the opening 72 in sealed engagement with the rod, and means 77, 78 on the ends of the rod to retain the members in juxtaposition. The partition is of natural or synthetic rubber and formed with a bead 71 which is clamped between the shaped ends of the members 66, 67 by a nut 77 and a block 78 on the rod 73. A passage 89 in the end of the rod provides a gas port leading to one side of the partition, and a threaded bore 79 and a passage 95 in the block 78 provide a liquid port leading to the other side of the partition. A plate 101 of sintered material, such as bronze, and a disc 104 of resilient material, such as natural or synthetic rubber, having perforations 105 are secured between a shoulder on the rod and the member 66. Liquid entering the container passes through the bore 79, passage 95 and plate 101 lifting the disc 104 to permit a large flow into the container. Liquid leaving the container passes through the perforations, plate 101, passages 95 and bore 79, and damage to the partition when the liquid is exhausted from the container is prevented by the partition engaging the disc to close the perforations thereby preventing the partition pressing against the plate 101.
