[Also in Group XXIX] A valve regulating the flow of air is formed by a frame 1, Fig. 1, with four pairs of pivots 3 for a pair of outer flaps 3a and a pair of inner flaps 3b, the pivots 3 accommodating arms 4 in such a manner that the effective length thereof are adjustable. The arms 4 of the outer flaps 3a are connected by rods 8, Fig. 2, of variable length to one of two pins 7 on a disc 6 operable by a hand lever 10 or power means; the position of the pins 7 on the disc 6 is adjustable. The inner flaps 3b are actuated from the outer flaps by rods 9, Fig. 3, connected to the arms 4 on the opposite ends of flaps from that to which the rods 8 are attached. The first crank, constituted by the disc 6, has an effective radius R which is equal to or greater than the effective radius r of the second crank formed by each of the arms 4 that are connected to the disc 6 by one of the rods 8. Various motions of the flaps and hence flow characteristics may be obtained in dependence upon the adjustments made to the operating and interconnecting mechanism.
