Abstract
763,801. Louvres. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN. Jan 24, 1955 [Jan. 27, 1954]. No. 2060/55. Class 137 [Also in Group XIII] A damper device for reversing the direction of two streams of air flowing in opposite directions in two adjacent channels, 1, 2, e.g. in a heat exchanger installation, comprises two sets' of louvres 16, 17 which are mounted in a casing 4 and are divided below and above a plane through the axes of the louvres by a partition 21, 23 respectively to divide the casing into four rectangles, the louvres in each half of each set being operable in opposite phase so that by adjustment air can be forced by a fan 6 into either channel 1, or channel 2 while being withdrawn by a fan 9 respectively from channel 2 or channel 1. The louvres in each set are interconnected by a rod 50 for simultaneous movement by a rod-49, Fig. 3, which is pivoted at one end to the axle 34 or a louvre 33 in one set of louvres and at the other end to the axle 54 of a louvre 53 in the other set of louvres. The rod 49 is movable by levers 32 and 48 fixed respectively to the axles 34 and 54 and operable by a catch 47 on an endless chain 46 passing round sprocket wheels 44, 65. A. counterweight 55 is carried on a lever 56 fixed to the axle 54. In a modification the dampers are operated by an electric motor controlled automatically by an electric timing circuit.
