Abstract

921,257. Magnetrons. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 22, 1960], No. 28456/61. Class 39 (1). In a double-ring strapped multi-cavity magnetron, strap breaks are provided over vanes 68, 70 disposed substantially 90 degrees around the anode from the output gap 80 in order to prevent the build-up of the predominant interfering mode during the starting of the magnetron. Similar breaks may be provided in straps provided at both ends of the anode block. The breaks may extend, instead of over the vanes only as shown, over a whole resonant cavity or over more than one cavity. Breaks may be additionally provided at points diametrically opposite from those shown at both ends of the block.
