920,567. Centrifugal testing. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSB.-NURNBURG A.G. Nov. 29, 1961 [Dec. 6, 1960], No. 42692/61. Class 106 (2). A test bed for testing parts, to destruction, for their resistance to centrifugal force comprises a pot-shaped chamber 5 with a protective wall 19 consisting of a plurality of yielding layers of metallic material with high tensile strength and high coefficient of elasticity, e.g. wire ropes, wire mesh or sheet steel laminations, and intermediate layers of easily deformable material with a low coefficient of elasticity, e.g. lead, light metal or rubber or plastic composition. The cover 13 of chamber 5 is rigidly fixed to a cross-bar 3 which contains the drive 14, to rotate the component 16 to be tested, and the pipe connections to operate the drive 14. The chamber 5 may be raised, by ram 7, along guideways 4 to engage the cover 13 and is then evacuated by a pump 10.
