Abstract
919,666. Releasable fastenings. CANADA, MINISTER OF NATIONAL DEFENCE. April 26, 1961 [Aug. 31, 1960], No. 15101/61. Class 44. In a variable depth sonar apparatus in which the sonar transducer is housed in a body towed astern a vessel, the body is locked in a stowed position on board the vessel by providing a tow arm 18 on the body and a throat block 13 on the vessel, and a pin 24 which may be passed through holes in either side of the throat block and a hole 20 in the tow arm to secure the tow arm to the throat block. An hydraulic piston and cylinder dependent upon an hydraulic valve 26, accumulator 27 and pump 28, operates the pin in response to a solenoid 25 being energized by the opening of a switch 21 in the form of a cam which is engaged by the tow arm when the latter is in position to accept the pin. A warning light 34 is operated by the pin to indicate when the latter is fully engaged.
