Abstract
918,528. Circular looms; shuttles. DAUTRICOURT, J. Feb. 13, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1958], No. 5062/59. Class 142 (2). A circular loom shuttle is propelled by a pinion A, gyrating round the axis of the loom, in mesh with a pinion B on the shuttle; to prevent the shuttle from overrunning when the loom is being stopped, the trailing end of the shuttle carries either a second pinion in mesh with the gear A or a brake shoe which contacts the tops of the teeth of the pinion A. The warp threads F are collected into bundles to enter the tooth spaces of the pinion A, which are deeper than usual to obviate crushing of the threads. As shown, a surface G on the shuttle guides the warp threads on to the periphery of a disc D rotating with the pinion B, and a member E travelling with the pinion A causes them to drop into notches P<SP>1</SP> in the disc. In a modification, the notches have one edge disposed radially of the disc and the surface G and member G are omitted. In another form, a surface on the shuttle deflects the warp threads into a fixed toothed ring concentric with the axis of the loom.
