Abstract
566,975. Looms. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Sept. 17, 1942, No. 13110. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1941. [Class 142 (ii)] One or both of two warps 9, 10 operating as selvedge binding threads is or are unwound from a bobbin 11, 12 mounted upon a continuously rotating bobbin carrier 23, and each such bobbin rotates with respect to the carrier so that the binding warps do not become untwisted or so strongly twisted that they break. The carrier 23 is rotated by gearing 24, 25, and the bobbins 11, 12 may be driven in the rotation of the carrier by a fixed pinion 35 and intermediate pinions engaging pinions 36, 37 secured to stirrups 28, 29 supporting the individual bobbins. In a modification, the bobbin or bobbins is or are mounted coaxially with the carrier 23, and to prevent additional twist being imparted to the warps 9, 10 each bobbin is rotated about an axis at right angles to the axis of the carrier. One of the binding threads may be drawn through the hollow shaft of the carrier 23. The warps 9, 10 pass through a spring plate 18 forming part of an electrical stop motion, and thence through guide eyes 20, 21 and a rotating disc 22 to the reed 6. The disc 22 may either be driven continuously by toothed gearing 42 or intermittently by means of a Geneva or like mechanism.
