Abstract
<PICT:0918304/III/1> In a fractionating column comprising a group of ducts 1, containing packing material, wherein the vapour and the reflux-liquid flow in counter-current, the upper part of the column is surrounded by a cooling-jacket 33, and the vapours from the top-ends of the exchange-ducts are condensed in an annular-chamber 32 between the ducts and the jacket. The condensate is pumped to chamber 36 through conduit 35, in the helical part of which the condensate is heated. Part of the condensate in chamber 36 flows through capillary-tubes 37 into the exchange-ducts, and the remainder overflows through conduit 38 into the product-receiver. The adjustment of the reflux-ratio is set by a regulator (not shown), connected by line 47 and cooling-trap 48 to chamber 36; this regulator being dependent upon the difference of pressure between the pressure in the exchangeducts and that in chamber 36.
