Abstract
769,641. Extracting apparatus. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AKT.-GES. May 2, 1955 [April 30, 1954], No. 12705/55. Addition to 754,337. Class 81(1) An apparatus for the continuous extraction of a component from a liquid by means of another liquid comprises a tubular member 1 of any desired cross-sectional form and longitudinal axis, at one end of which is an inlet opening 2 for the first liquid and an outlet opening 5 for the second liquid, while at the other end of the tubular member there is an inlet opening 4 for the second liquid and an outlet opening 3 for the first liquid if desired in such a manner that the liquid space is confined to the lower part of the apparatus, and also comprises a heating device 6 arranged substantially longitudinally of the liquid flow preferably near the bottom thereof. As shown in the vessel 1 a heating device 6, e.g. an electrical heating element is provided substantially longitudinally of the liquid flow, the two liquids being fed into the apparatus through their respective inlets and flowing horizontally one above the other in countercurrent, the liquid of higher boiling point being uppermost, the vapours evolved from the lower boiling point liquid intimately mix both liquids and then pass through a pipe 7 into reflux condenser 8 and are condensed and led back together with fresh lower boiling point liquid into the vessel 1 through a pipe 4.
