Abstract

918,124. Protective arrangements. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Feb. 19, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1958], No. 5768/59. Class 38 (5). In an arrangement for protecting series - connected semi - conductor rectifiers, a bridge circuit is formed by these rectifiers 4, 5 in combination with resistors 7, 8, Fig. 1, or with other seriesconnected semi-conductor rectifiers, Fig. 2 (not shown), and a device is connected between normally equipotential points of the bridge for causing an indication or switching operation should a rectifier fail. Fig. 1 shows the primary winding of a transformer 12 connected in series with a variable resistor 11 between the equipotential points 9, 10, the secondary winding of the transformer energizing an indicating or tripping device when the bridge becomes unbalanced. Alternatively a relay in series with the resistor 11 may be connected between the points 9, 10. Figs. 3 to 10 (not shown) illustrate the application of the invention to various rectifier arrangements in which seriesconnected semi-conductor rectifiers are used.
