Abstract

918,041. Injection-moulding brushes from thermoplastic materials. GROTH, C. Feb. 17, 1961 [Feb. 19, 1960], No. 6007/61. Class 87(2). A mould for forming brushes having bristles integral with the brush back and forming a plurality of bristle tufts which may be inclined at acute angles to one another comprises a mould body 6 having a number of bores 7, a sprue member 1 located in a fixing plate 2, and a stripping plate 16. The bristles are formed by grooved pins 8 firmly located in the bores 7 and members 1 and 16 are provided with recesses 21, 20 to form thickened edges on the brush back. With the mould closed member 16 is forced against plate 2 by the springs 12 located in a recess in a plate 5. After injection the body 6 and the pins 8 are removed from the bristles, the brush being held by the edges of the backing in recesses 20, 21. As the opening is continued the heads 18 on rods 17 strike the end faces of holes 19 so that the rods 17 are carried along and the plate 16 is forcibly removed from member 1 and the edges of the brush back are forced out of recesses 20, 21. The mould of Fig. 2 (not shown) has two plates which replace plate 16. The pins 8 may be surrounded by grooved pins, Fig. 6 (not shown). Specification 918,042 is referred to.
