Abstract

An additive for motor fuels comprises 95 to 99,8% by weight of a light distillate mineral lubricating oil fraction having a S.U.S. viscosity at 100 DEG F. between 50 and 300 and a Conradson carbon content below 0,02%, and 0,2 to 5% by weight of either (a) an oxidized deoiled macrocrystalline wax having a neutralization number of 60-100, a saponification number above 170, a ratio of neutralization number to saponification number of 0,25-0,5 and an unsaponifiable content less than 40%, or (b) an oxidized paraffinic lubricating oil having a neutralization number of 55-80, a saponification number of 100-200 and an unsaponifiable content less than 55%. The proportion of additive may be such as to provide 0,2 to 1% by weight of the oil and 0,002 to 0,05% by weight of the oxidate in the gasoline. The compositions may also contain tetra-ethyl lead, N,N1-disalicylidene-1,2-diamino propane, and N,N1-di-sec-butyl-p-phenylene diamine.
