Abstract
917,775. Lifting and stacking articles. NORSK JERNVERK, A.S. Sept. 6, 1960 [Sept. 15, 1959], No. 30758/60. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XVII] A stack of rod - shaped members 28 (Fig. 3) is supported between panels or frames 2, 4 by pawls 16, 18 so that a further article 25 may be added to the bottom of the stack either by lowering the device 6 over the member 25 or by raising the support 26 supporting the member 25. Where the panels 2, 4 are fixed a similar, but movable, supporting device may be employed to remove the stack. In the alternative arrangement shown in Fig. 10, a stack of I-section members is supported between either of pawls 56, 57 and the opposite wall of the device. One or both of the pawls is hooked shaped as shown at 54 and the pawls are shaped to guide a further I-section member into proper engagement with the bottom member of the stack. When the stack is to be removed the supporting pawls may be retracted either manually or by an electromagnetic device.
