Abstract

917,712. Cooling reactors. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. July 10, 1961 [July 12, 1960], No. 24269/60. Class 39 (4). In the reactor 1, the graphite core is formed in two sections 1a and 1b in which the coolants are respectively boiling water and pressurized carbon dioxide or helium. The water and steam circulate through 1a and drum 2, the steam being led from 2 by conduit 4 through the superheater 5 into the turbine 6. Gas, circulated by pump 8, through 1b is used to heat 5, the temperature being controlled by the spray 9. The latter may be automatically regulated in accordance with the final superheat temperature or the coolant - temperature.
