Abstract

917,268. Road vehicle independent suspensions. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Oct. 18, 1961 [Nov. 10, 1960], No. 38602/60. Class 108(2). The wheel carriers 5, 6 of a motor vehicle are connected to the sprung part 11 of the vehicle by lower links 9, 10 swingable in a transverse vertical plane and by longitudinal upper links 21, 23 pivoted on transverse axes inclined inwardly and downwardly. The lower links 9, 10 may be arms pivoted to longitudinal members 13, 14 (Fig. 4, not shown) and be sprung by a pair of coil springs or by a transverse leaf spring or be the outer portions of a transverse leaf spring 12 secured to the members 13, 14 by a pair of mountings 16 incorporating resilient material.
