Abstract

917,110. Roller mills. SMIDTH & CO. A.S., F. L. Nov. 3, 1959, No. 37288/59. Class 59. Crushing apparatus comprises two rotatable worms 1, 2 with intermeshing threads of opposite hand mounted in a casing 4 about horizontal or inclined parallel axes to receive material to be crushed from a hopper 5 and to allow adequately crushed material to pass downwards between them and to force the remaining material axially, and a breaker plate 11 cooperating with the worms both to crush material conveyed to it by the worms and to force the crushed material between the worms. More than one pair of worms may be provided. In a modification, the thread on each worm is of one hand from the middle to one end and of the opposite hand from the middle to the other end, and a breaker plate is provided at each end of the worms, the material to be crushed being supplied to the middle of the worms.
