[Also in Group XVI] Drying apparatus.-A drying apparatus for a web 2 coming from printing cylinders 3 comprises a drying stretch divided into a series of zones, viz., zone 1 in which air is sucked direct to a solvent recovery plant, zones 4, 5 in which warm air and hot air respectively is applied at low and high velocities, a zone 6 in which cooler although warm air is applied with the velocity of the air in this zone gradually increasing in direction of travel, and finally a second cooling zone 7 in which a large volume of air is directed at a high velocity on to the web. The air to zones 4, 5, 6 is propelled by pump 10 and drawn off by pumps into the solvent recovery plant. The drying stretch comprises a narrow U-shaped hood divided into zones and air is angularly directed in a narrow jet against the direction of travel of the web.
