Abstract

916,955. Fireproof doors. RANNILA, T. V. July 11, 1961 [July 11, 1960], No. 25146/61. Class 20 (3). [Also in Groups XXI and XXV] A hinge member 9 is secured to a combustible portion 2, 3 of a door or other object 1 by means such as screws 12 which pass through holes in the portion and are secured to a plate 13 of heat-proof material, e.g. metal, located in a slit in the portion substantially parallel to the hinge plate. The screws are thereby prevented from dropping out when a fire reaches the door. The door may comprise asbestos 4, 5 faced with hardboard 6, the portion 2, 3 being a wooden framework. The plate 13 may be of the same length as the hinge or may extend from the upper hinge to the lower one.
