Abstract

The fire-door, for containing hot gases, is mounted between door jambs and a cross-member (4) which are each covered by a strip of chip-board (5) and veneer (6). The jambs and cross-member may have a groove (2) containing a seal (7) which when heated swells out to form an air- tight joint. The door leaf (8) has veneer faces (13) which cover the fire-proof sides (12) and the chip-board core (11) and may carry in a central groove about its edges another expandable seal (14).
