Abstract
916,943. Semi-conductor devices. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. March 24, 1960 [April 24, 1959], No. 10516/60. Class 37. A thermistor consists of the oxides of cobalt, lithium and copper, together with a carbonate of oxide of lead. Percentages of the oxide ions are: cobalt 88.3-99.75%, lithium 0.07- 1.2%, copper 0-5%, and lead 0.18-5.5%. In a particular example constituents are weighed in the following proportions: calcined cobalt carbonate 88.5, crude cobalt carbonate 10, lithium carbonate 3.5, and yellow lead oxide 1. After weighing these constituents are ground in alcohol for 24 hours and sieved. An organic binder such as mineral wax or an aqueous gel of polyvinyl alcohol is added and the mixture again sieved. Finally the material is moulded at 2 metric tons/cm.<SP>2</SP> and the pieces calcined at 1230‹ C.
