Abstract

916,237. Scoops and shovels. STEWART, R., and GANNON, P. C. Nov. 9, 1961 [Jan. 4, 1961], No. 297/61. Class 6(2). An auxiliary handle 6 is pivotally attached to the side walls 4 of a shovel or scoop. Stop means may be provided to prevent the handle being moved forwardly beyond the erect position and a clip may be provided to hold the handle in the collapsed position. The handle may be connected to the upstanding ends of a bracket or sling adapted to lie beneath the blade 3 and to clip on to the side walls of the shovel. Alternatively the ends of the handle may be provided with screw and nut clamping means to grip the sides of the shovel.
