Abstract

915,173. Bundling-machines. VEREENIGDE METAALVERPAKKING MAATSCHAPPIJ N. V. Sept. 7, 1960 [Nov. 5, 1959], No. 30863/60. Class 94(1). The wire or strap feed of a bundling-machine is stopped when the strap 7 has encircled the article k to be bound, by its end engaging a feeler 16, the feeler being pivoted obliquely in a recess in the guide track 5 of the machine bed and being retracted completely into it by the strap during tensioning. The feeler is spring-biased into the path of the strap and is moved by the latter to close a switch 20 causing disconnection of a solenoid 14 with consequent disengagement of the forward feed rollers 9, 10. A brake 23 engages the strap and a solenoid 15 is energized to initiate reverse feed by rollers 24, 25. The wire feeding means may be as described in Specification 885,371.
