Abstract
915,088. Bundling-machines. VEREENIGDE METAALVERPAKKING MAATSCHAPPIJ N. V. Sept. 7, 1960 [Oct. 29, 1959], No. 30862/60. Class 94(1). A machine for binding articles 2 with metal wire or strap 5 and of the kind having a fixed guide track, has strap &c. retaining means 10 which is pivoted by the strap into a recess 9 in the side of the track to release the strap when tensioned. The means 10 consists of a plate having a scroll-shaped upstanding rim 11 and pivoted at an angle to the track on the bottom of the recess 9. It is biased into its active full line position by a spring 13, but is pulled down to the dotted position 11<SP>1</SP> by the tensioned strap. The device enables the strap to bridge the gap between halves 3, 4 of the track. A switch 14 is operated by the strap to stop the roller feed 6, 7.
