Abstract

913,896. Reciprocating generators. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. March 15, 1960 [March 19, 1959], No. 9169/60. Class 35. In an impulse generator of the type in which the breaking of a magnetic circuit induces a pulse in a neighbouring coil, actuating energy is stored until it is great enough to overcome the magnetic attraction between the parts which are to separate. It is stated that this gives uniformity of pulses regardless of the actuating force. The magnetic circuit comprises annular permanent magnets 2, core parts 3, 4 and 9, and a movable member 7. A gap is introduced at 8 in the centre of coil 5 when the energy stored in a spring 11 by pressure on a cap 10 is sufficient to force down the part 13 which is attached to the movable member 7. A resilient stop 16 limits its travel. Upon release of the cap a return spring 18, on a guide-pin 19, restores the parts for subsequent operation. The storage spring 11 may be replaced by a compressible fluid. The cap 10 also acts as a magnetic shield.
