913,255. Measuring internal dimensions. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 10, 1961 [Aug. 25, 1960], No. 29397/60. Class 106 (2). Apparatus for measuring internal dimensions of a body 17 under variations of temperature and pressure comprises a feeler with ends 5, 24 connected respectively to a piston 1 and cylinder 2. The end space of the cylinder 2 closed by the piston 1 is filled with a liquid 25 such as mercury and connected through a pipe 3 and an adjustable chamber 8 in a tiltable box block 4 to an indicating tube 7. Thus the height of the miniscus in tube 7 is a measure of the internal diameter of body 17. Ends 5 of different lengths may be inserted in the piston 1 for different gauging ranges. Cylinder 2 may be slidably mounted in a sleeve 6 to position cylinder 2 radially in a tubular body 17. Pressure can be applied to the inside of body 17 through a tube 26 and in this case the end of the indicating tube is connected by a tube 16 to the inside of body 17. Pressure can be applied to the outside of body 17 by means of a jacket 21 with an inlet 23.
