Abstract
Resinates of 4-quinazolones of the general formula <FORM:0912085/IV(a)/1> (wherein R represents hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms) are prepared by stirring the quinazolone base with a suspension of a cation exchange resin, e.g. a sulphonic acid cation exchange resin or a carboxylic acid ion exchange resin in the hydrogen form.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:0912085/IV (b)/1> wherein R is hydrogen, or alkyl (1 to 4 carbon atoms), and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid-addition salts (including salts formed with ion-exchange resins), the preparation thereof by condensation of an o-acylamidobenzoic acid with o-, m-, or p-aminobenzotrifluoride in the presence of an inorganic phosphorus halide catalyst, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds. The compounds may be administered as muscle-relaxants and antispasmodics, either alone or with a pharmaceutical carrier, and administration may be oral (e.g. as tablets, capsules, elixirs, or suspensions) or parenteral (e.g. intramuscular administration of the free bases or their common salts).
