Abstract
911,545. Burners. INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES DE LA SIDERURGIE. March 2, 1959 [March 3, 1958], No. 37084/59. Class 75 (1). [Also in Groups XII and XXX] An arrangement for inparting a high velocity to particles suspended in a gas, e.g. a burner for atomized fuel, comprises a short unobstructed element 6 converging in the downward direction for restricting the flow of gas flowing therethrough to increase its velocity, which element is directly followed by a straight tubular element 5, the crosssection at its outlet being larger than the cross-section at its inlet and having a length at least twenty times its average diameter. In another embodiment a short convergent element 6, Fig. 3, is followed by a tubular element formed of cylindrical sections 8, 9, 10, the diameters of which increase successively towards the outlet of the tubular elements, and which sections are connected by short divergent elements 11, 12.
