In a moving-coil loud-speaker having a diaphragm of maximum diameter not greater than 215 mm., one or both polepieces have applied to their surface or surfaces adjacent the moving coil a coating of material of higher conductivity than that of the polepiece or polepieces, the thickness of the coating or aggregate thickness of both coatings being 0.2 Π0.05 mm. Where the loud-speaker is elliptical the geometric mean should be not greater than 215 mm. The coating may be of copper or silver.
