Abstract
910,958. Valves. LUCIFER S.A. Jan. 30, 1959 [Feb. 26, 1958], No. 3407/59. Class 135. A valve 8, 9 secured by a rod 7 to the centre of an actuating diaphragm 10 has the periphery of the diaphragm clamped between an annular casing bearing surface 23 and a first part 24 covering the whole diaphragm and forming a diaphragm chamber 55, the part 24 is clamped against a second part 25 to form a chamber therebetween, the first part having a passage 56 communicating the two chambers and a fluid-pressure passage 52 leading to an orifice 51 in the chamber between the two parts controlled by a valve element 42 carried in the second part. Several casings may be joined together so that chamber 3 forms a manifold supplying pressure via 54, 52 to the nozzle 51 and the shuttle element 42 is solenoid actuated so that when de-energized pressure in chamber 55 is exhausted via passage 56, grooves in member 42 and open valve 45, and the other shuttle valve 51 is closed whereby valve 8 is closed and fluid is exhausted from a utilization port opening into intermediate passage 2 via open valve 9 and passage 27. On raising the solenoid element 42, valve 45 is closed and pressure at 3 acts in chamber 55 and on the diaphragm to close valve 9 and open valve 8 whereby pressure passes from chamber 3 to the utilization port. The pressure supply may be at the utilization port or at port 27, and passage 54 will then connect with these ports.
