Abstract

910,691. Discharging compressed gas containers. NORMALAIR Ltd. May 31, 1960 [Oct. 24, 1959], No. 36076/59. Class 8(2). Automatic actuation of a tensional pullcord for withdrawing a retaining pin from engagement with a spring-biased closure disc piercing needle or a valve opening member of a compressed gas container is effected when a plate 14, Fig. 3, to which the free end of the cord is attached is allowed to be displaced by a spring 15 on the removal of a piston 7 from between two rollers 10 as shown in Fig. 4, carried by bell-crank levers 8 pivoted at elbows 9 to a rigid casing 3 and connected by links 11 to the plate 14; the piston 7 being actuated at a predetermined ambient pressure or temperature by expansion of a flexible evacuated bellows 4 to which said piston is attached. As shown the automatic triggering device is located at an intermediate point in the cord and manual withdrawal of the retaining pin may be effected by merely pulling the casing 3 away from the compressed gas container.
