Abstract

909,310. Cleaning bottles. DOUGLAS MFG. Inc., N.A. July 13, 1960 [July 21, 1959, No. 24398/60. Class 138(1). [Also in Group I] In apparatus for extracting labels which have been removed from bottles 16, a tilted elongated easing 22 has a lower inlet conduit 18 from the bottom of a tank of bottle-washing liquid 10 and a higher outlet conduit 24, connected to a pump 60 which draws the liquid from the tank through the casing and returns it to the tank through side-by-side conduits 64, there being a perforated sleeve 26 spaced from the walls of the casing, and an extractor screw 38 for extraining and lifting insolubles from the liquid to, and out from, the open top end 32 of the casing. A by-pass filter in a container 70 filters a proportion of the strained liquid to remove smaller impurities. The screw 38 has one or more additional wiper blades 44. The washing tank 10 may include a dividing plate (not shown) across the bottom with apertures in the plate to permit passage of the labels.
