Abstract
909,223. Wave-guide isolators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 11, 1959 [Nov. 11, 1957], No. 35136/57. Class 40 (8). A resonance isolator comprises a transmission line 1, e.g. a rectangular waveguide, and at least two ferromagnetic elements 2, 3 arranged to lie in the magnetic field of the transmission line, e.g. produced by permanent magnets 11 and 12, with their major dimensions along the length of the transmission line, the elements exhibiting resonance at different frequencies. The elements 2, 3 can be of different materials, e.g. nickel-zinc ferrite and magnesium-manganese ferrite, and arranged to lie in magnetic fields of approximately the same value. The elements 2, 3 are glued to members 4, 5 of polystyrene which are connected by polystyrene pegs 6 to the walls of the waveguide. The ends of the elements 2, 3 and members 4, 5 can be tapered. The element 2 of nickel-zinc ferrite is mounted a little nearer the wall 13 of the waveguide than the element 3 of magnesium-manganese ferrite in order for each of the elements to effect maximum isolation. Dimensions are stated.
