908,955. Distributing music &c. WOLSEY ELECTRONICS Ltd. May 30, 1961 [April 28, 1960], No. 14917/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4). In a wired distribution system a received a.m. carrier is demodulated and the signal used to frequency modulate a locally generated carrier, the frequency modulated carrier being applied to the distribution network. The system may be used for the distribution of signals received from television transmissions in Bands I and III, from frequency-modulated transmissions in Band II, and those derived from further amplitude modulated signals to commercially available television - frequency modulation receivers. These latter amplitude modulated signals are demodulated and remodulated on a local carrier using a reactance valve/oscillator combination to produce frequency modulated signals in Band II which are fed to the network together with the frequency modulated signals received in Band II and the amplitude modulated signals received in Bands I and III. When long feelers are used it is preferable to convert the Band III signals to Band I channels not otherwise in use, as described in Specification 908,602. Additional audiofrequency signals other than those obtained from demodulation of amplitude modulated signals may be applied to the modulators to provide extra sound programmes.
