Abstract
908,822. Screen-printing machines. ICHINOSE, H. May 26, 1960 [Dec. 22, 1959 ; Feb. 20, 1960], No. 18673/60. Class 100 (2). In an automatic machine for screen-printing a long length of cloth 10 having screens la, 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a under which the cloth is advanced step-by-step on an endless band 9 to which it is temporarily adhered, heaters 12b, 12a, 12c are provided adjacent the screens for drying the wet print arising therefrom. The screen 1a . . . 5a and the heaters 12b, 12a, 12c are mounted on a frame 14 which is lowered to and raised from the cloth in conjunction with the intermittent driving apparatus of the belt. Each heater is mounted on the frame through arcuate strip springs 17 biased in an upward direction such that a positive downward thrust must be exerted on the heater to move it to its operative level on the frame. The heater is held at this level 19 by an electromagnetically operated switch and latch 19, 19a disposed on each associated bar 15 of the frame 14 and engaging an abutment 18 fixed to the heater frame. Should the machine fail with the heaters contacting the cloth the magneto holding the latches 19a in engagement with the abutments 18 are de-energized so that the heaters spring upwardly from the frame 14 and away from the cloth.
