Abstract

406,928. Printing-machines. LEONARD, M. A., 2, Impasse de la Gare, Cuire, Rhone, France. Aug. 16, 1933, No. 22932. Convention date, Oct. 20, 1932. [Class 100 (ii).] In a machine for printing on fabrics, the fabric from a roll 6 is attached to a blanket 1 by means of glue or other adhesive which is applied to the blanket by a roller, or a layer of gum arabic is applied by powdering. The fabric is secured to the blanket by means of pressure rollers 7 one of which is heated, so that the glue is dried immediately and the fabric is securely attached to the blanket before reaching the printing table where the fabric is printed by the screen or other method. For screen printing rocking squeegees actuated by inclined ramps are employed in conjunction with the screen 12. A second endless blanket 11 may support the blanket 1 during the printing operation, and the blanket 1 may be fed continuously with a printing-device 'operating intermittently. In this case gravity rollers 8 moving in slots 10, and an upper roller 8, to which is attached a counterweighted chain 10 moving over an upper pulley, take up slack in the web. After receiving one or more impressions the blanket 1 and fabric are passed over drying drums 13, and the blanket is separated readily from the fabric which is delivered at 14. After the fabric is glued to the blanket it may be wound into the form of a roll A and stored before the printing operation. The roll A is mounted in a carriage which is moved in the direction of the arrow F<1>. The free end of the web is passed over a spur B, and is held fixed while the carriage moves over the printing-table.
