Abstract

908,747. Doctors of paper-making machines. SCOTT, H. E. B. Aug. 10, 1961 [Sept. 13, 1960], No. 31532/60. Class 96. A creping doctor 11 for paper 12, has two blades 16, so mounted that one may be changed whilst the other is in use. To change a worn blade 16, a button is pressed, causing an airmotor or an electric motor to rotate the holder 15, whilst a pneumatic cylinder moves the assembly away from the creping cylinder 10, the web 12 having been severed by a doctor knife 13 actuated by a pneumatic cylinder 36. The holder 15 is then moved back to the creping position, with the worn blade out of operation, and the knife 13 is withdrawn, allowing the paper web to reach the cylinder 10 again. A cleaning doctor 14 may be fitted. Operation is by solenoid-actuated valves and limit-switches. A non-return valve ensures continued working should the compressed air supply fail.
