Abstract

Natural or regenerated cellulose fibres may be modified by treatment with a divalent iron salt and subsequently with an oxidizing agent and an aqueous solution of an emulsifier containing a polymerizable material such as acrylonitrile, styrene, vinylidene chloride, or an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester.
